Forming Red White And Blue Kit

This kid introduces students to a number of chemical reactions. The first reaction is that of a Complex Ion Formation ins which Ferric ions react with thiocyanate ions. This reaction can also serve as a starting point for teaching about reversible chemical reactions, equilibrium and Le Chatelier’s Principle. The second reaction students will observe is the Double Replacement Reaction, in which Ferric chloride reacts with silver nitrate to form insoluble silver chloride and ferric nitrate. In the third reaction, students witness the formation of Prussian Blue, occurring when Iron(III) ions in ferric nitrate react with the iron(II) complex ion.
